Children's Book Publishing That Delights Young Readers

Our children's book publishing service takes your story from idea to a finished book kids will want to read again and again. We edit your text, match you with an illustrator, design every page and print with child-safe materials. Then we help you sell it to parents, teachers and libraries worldwide.

What Our Children's Book Publishing Service Includes

Books for young readers need special care. The words, pictures and even the paper all matter.

  • Editing for Young Readers

First, our editors check that your words, length and themes suit your readers' age. For picture books, every word must earn its place.

  • Custom Illustrations

Next, we match you with an illustrator whose style fits your story, then plan each spread with you.

  • Page Design and Layout

We also design pages so text and pictures work together, with fonts that are easy for young eyes to read.

  • Child-Safe Printing

Finally, we print with non-toxic inks and materials. For board books and novelty books, we arrange safety testing where required.

Create a Book Kids Will Love

From bedtime stories to chapter books, we help you make something families treasure.

How We Publish Your Children's Book

You always know which stage your book is at and who is working on it.

  1. 01

    Story Review

First, we read your story and suggest edits to suit its age group.

  2. 02

    Illustration

Next, your illustrator creates sketches, then final art, with your feedback at each stage.

  3. 03

    Design and Print

Then we lay out the book, order a printed proof and make final changes.

  4. 04

    Publish and Share

After that, we publish your book online and help you reach schools, libraries and bookstores.

Children's Book Publishing, From Picture Books to Middle Grade

Different ages need very different books. A picture book for a three-year-old may have only a few hundred words. Meanwhile, a middle-grade novel may run to 40,000 words or more. Our children's book publishing team knows these differences and helps you get each one right.

We also think about who buys the book. For example, parents, grandparents, teachers and librarians all choose books for children. So we plan your cover, description and marketing to speak to them too.

Need art for your story? See our book illustration services. For safety rules and ISBNs, our book copyright services can help. And for printed copies to sell at schools and events, use our book printing services.

What our authors say

  • I originally hired a freelance illustrator separately from my editor, and it was a disaster. The artwork didn't match the tone of the manuscript at all, and the characters looked different on every page. Moving the project to Ordwick saved my book. Having the illustrator and the formatting team working under one roof meant the text and art finally felt like they belonged to the same story.

    Sarah L.

    Children's Author

  • Publishing a children's book for the first time felt incredibly overwhelming. I didn't know the standard page counts for picture books or how to properly format the text around the art. Ordwick guided me through every single step, from character design to final publication. They took a complicated process and made it completely joyful.

    Marcus T.

    First-Time Author

  • I came to Ordwick with a finished manuscript and my own completed illustrations, but trying to format them together for print-on-demand was a technical nightmare. Their layout team stepped in, perfectly integrated my text with the artwork, set up the bleed margins correctly, and had the book published flawlessly in both paperback and ebook formats.

    David K.

    Independent Author

  • Ordwick didn't just publish my book; they treated it like a piece of architecture. Every font choice, every margin, every marketing move was intentional and precise.
